I'm leaving for medical school tomorrow! 
 

My name is Jaime and I will be a first year medical student at St. George's University in Grenada, an island in the West Indies.  It has been my dream to become a physician for a long time and I am so excited to finally begin this long journey! 
 

I graduated from The George Washington University with a BA in Psychology and Spanish and a Master of Public Health with a focus on Maternal and Child Health and a graduate certificate in International Health Promotion.  I spent the past year working for the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene on the Teens Rejecting Abusive Smoking Habits (T.R.A.S.H.) program. I loved my job and I will definitely miss everyone that I worked with and while I would like to continue to do some public health projects after medical school, I am really looking forward to learning about the practice of medicine.
 

As you can imagine, medical school is very expensive and I already have several loans which will result in the cap in loans being reached before I graduate.  My coworker, Andrea, had the great idea of starting this web site with the hope of raising some money to finance medical school while providing invaluable information to future medical students about life in medical school, as well as hopefully some entertainment to anyone who decides to follow my story.  My sister, Lori, is the web site designer. Andrea and Lori are both working for free and I am very grateful to both of them!!! 
 

I have never been to Grenada, so I really feel as though tomorrow starts a new adventure in many ways!  I know that I will spend hours of studying endlessly, but I'm hoping to have a little fun, too!
